I’ve been under the weather for the past week with a helluva cold that I caught from Hadley. Tell me this, how does it last for 2 days in an infant, but going on 5 days for an adult? But I digress, on Fridays at John’s work they do their “Friday at Four” ritual. They [...]

Ray LaMontagne
Posted in McPhee Family, Music, Portland on November 7, 2008 | 6 Comments »
It’s been a while since I’ve been to a show, mostly because I haven’t been able to find Hadley a fake ID yet, but on Wednesday night Heather and I were able to go see Ray LaMontagne. I had written about him a few months back when I had rediscovered him on Austin City Limits. [...]

John, Hadley and I have been pretty busy lately. It’s been raining a little here and there and we’re trying not to let it keep us sequestered to the house. After all, it is Portland and Hadley is going to have to learn to live with (and enjoy!) the rain. Hadley and I have been [...]
Finally, I understand Celine Dion!

Hadley is feeling a little under the weather and is on her 3rd nap today, 2 hours and counting. I’m done reading the whole internet and the house is clean so I decided to sit down for a moment and watch everybody’s pal, Oprah. On today’s episode she made a 16 year old little girls [...]
Ray Lamontagne

If you haven’t heard of Ray Lamontagne, I highly recommend checking him out. I was first introduced to him last year and remember thinking he’s good, but that’s about it. I recently saw him perform on Austin City Limits, which airs on PBS every Friday night here in Portland, and he was simply amazing. A [...]
I think this library thing just may catch on…

On Monday, Hadley and I were running errands and we were near our neighborhood library. Since we both have library cards, I figured we would go check out some books for the week for Hadley. John and I signed all of us up for library cards a couple of months ago after Book Babies at [...]
Eddie Vedder’s ‘Into the Wild’

My uncle had sent me a few albums a couple of months back, one being Eddie Vedder’s solo debut, Into the Wild. I’m not a huge Eddie Vedder fan – but do note that I sported the grungey attire back in the early ’90s, as did every other kid I knew. Flannels are rad – [...]
I’ve finally discovered why

Spoon is so highly regarded in Portland. Obviously they are well liked elsewhere, but ever since Britt Daniel, Spoon’s frontman, moved to Portland and their latest album Ga Ga Ga Ga began receiving so much airtime on the local radio station (94.7 fm), it’s like Portland has gone ga ga (pun obviously intended) for Spoon. [...]
And they’re back!!

The New Kids on the Block (NKOTB for true fans) are back and are about to embark on a nationwide tour. I was a fan back in the day, not a superfan like the Dorfner’s, but a fan nonetheless. They have yet to announce the tour dates but you can read about their comeback here. [...]
Jeff Healey Dies at Age 41
Posted in Movies, Music, Zany/Miscellaneous on March 4, 2008 | 3 Comments »
You’re probably wondering who Jeff Healey is, right? He was most known for the song Angel Eyes, but was a critically acclaimed blind guitarist who has played with some legends in George Harrison, B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Healey passed away from a form of retinal cancer that he has had since age 1. [...]
